I'm Philipp Scheit.
I live by Kaizen — continuous improvement in everything.
I've been fascinated by building software since I wrote my first lines of code at 16. What started as curiosity evolved into over two decades of professional development, always with the same driving question: how can I make this better?
I build YAY with my wife Imme. What started in 2016 as a simple idea — that memories deserve more than just photos lost in phone storage — has grown into a platform helping families preserve their stories. Because people who know their own stories are stronger and more grounded in life.
By day, I work at Private Packagist in a small team led by Nils Adermann and Jordi Boggiano, the creators of Composer. I've contributed to Conductor and work on various parts of the platform. Working on infrastructure that powers the entire PHP ecosystem is an honor and incredibly exciting.
My approach to development is rooted in TDD and DDD — not as religious dogma, but as practical tools. Red, green, refactor. Model the domain first. These principles guide me without constraining me. Working code isn't enough — it needs to be right, and it needs to reflect the problem it solves.
I believe in investigating before implementing. In understanding systems before changing them. In being responsible for whatever breaks, because "not my bug" is never acceptable. These aren't just coding principles — they're life principles.
Kaizen isn't just about better code — it's about becoming a better developer, a better teammate, a better person. I read, I learn, I question my assumptions. The moment you think you've figured it all out is the moment you stop growing.
Look closely: Philipp. PHP is literally in my name. I never stood a chance...
